The Basic Sniper Course introduces students to the fundamentals of precision marksmanship and the duties of a law enforcement sniper. This course is designed to prepare the student with the abilities and confidence to deploy as a sniper immediately upon return to their agency as well as to set the groundwork for continued of training. The week will focus on developing a solid foundation in the basics of utilizing a precision weapon system and functioning in the role of a SWAT Rifle Team member.
Topics Covered:
Days 1, 2, 4 & 5 will be held at the Lubbock PD range (11648 SH-114 W, Lubbock, TX 79407)
Day 3 will be held at the Caprock Rifle Club range (2511 US-380, Brownfield, TX 79316) This training site is around 35 minutes from Lubbock.
INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY:
The Lubbock PD Rifle Team has over 40 years of combined experience serving as Law Enforcement snipers. LPD SWAT snipers are also 4x winners of the TTPOA Sniper Challenge. Kolton Pirkle has 11 years of Law Enforcement experience with the Lubbock Police Department. He is currently assigned to the LPD Training Academy and is a member of the LPD SWAT Rifle Team. As an 8 year member of the SWAT team, Kolton has participated in numerous tactical operations including the service of high-risk search/arrest warrants, armed/barricaded subjects, event overwatch, dignitary protection and hostage situations. He has been a firearms instructor for 9 years and teaches several shooting disciplines including handgun, carbine, precision rifle, dynamic pistol/rifle, LPVO, MRDS, NVG, shotgun & ballistic shields. He is also a traveling adjunct instructor for In Extremis Performance and ALERRT. Kolton has trained local, state and federal law enforcement personnel all over the United States and in Canada. Kolton has practiced precision rifle shooting for 15 years and is heavily involved in various types of competitive shooting sports, including sniper competitions, SWAT competitions, precision gas gun, USPSA, 2-gun and others. Kolton is a Master class shooter in USPSA and has over thirty 1st or 2nd place finishes in these various sports.
PREREQUISITES:
All students are required to be either current law enforcement or active-duty military assigned to a tactical unit and in good standing. Students must be able to provide valid agency credentials on the first day. This course will entail some physical activity, so students should be physically fit and healthy.
*NOTE* One of the days will start later and run into the evening hours, allowing for low-light training.
THIS IS A CERTIFICATION COURSE - THE STUDENT WILL HAVE WRITTEN AND PERFORMANCE EXAMS THAT THEY MUST PASS BY THE END OF THE COURSE.

Food/drinks are not provided during this course. We will have working lunches and students will need to bring their lunches/snacks so that they can eat during classroom instruction.
