Les Early Memorial Scholarship

Les Early was a member of the Pasadena (TX) Police Department and a member of the TTPOA. Officer Early was killed in the line of duty in 1993 while executing a narcotic search warrant. This scholarship was created in his memory.

The recipient of the Les Early Memorial Scholarship is selected by the TTPOA Training Advisory Board after a review of applications. The recipient will receive $1000.00 for the fall and spring terms for a maximum period of four (4) years pending satisfactory completion of course work each term. As proof of progress the recipient will be required to submit a transcript at the end of each academic term.

Needed materials for the original application process:

  • Letter of intent stating educational and career goals
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation/reference
  • Current high school or college transcripts
  • Proof of parental police employment as a full time sworn officer
  • Documentation for honors awards
  • Documentation of civic achievement
  • Redacted copy of last year’s tax form

All materials must be submitted as a complete package. No partial applications will be accepted.

An original applicant must be either a graduating senior or a currently enrolled college/university student. The applicant’s parent must be a current member of the TTPOA. Children of the TTPOA Training Advisory Board are ineligible.
