Josh served as a police officer and Sergeant with the Houston Police Department for thirteen years; serving as a patrol officer, on a proactive citywide gang unit, with the Narcotics Divisions’ Narcotics Tactical Team, and ten of the years with HPD, involved with the SWAT detail as an assaulter, assaulter team-leader, and a part-time SWAT team supervisor. He has TCOLE instructor certifications in Basic Instructor and Firearms Instructor; instructor certifications from ALERRT in Active Shooter Level 1, Safariland Dynamic Shield Instructor and less-lethal ICP Instructor Courses, and manual, shotgun, and high energy breaching certifications from Cherry Engineering, 5.11 Tactical, and TTPOA Instructors. He has completed HPD’s Basic and Advanced SWAT courses, 5-week Operator Training Course, and a Basic Sniper Course, along with numerous other tactical and medical courses. He also has competed in numerous SWAT and 3-gun competitions with the TTPOA SWAT Competitions, Florida Round Up SWAT Competition, and the Tactical Games.
