This course will focus on establishing hostage-rescue principles tailored explicitly for patrol officers. It will equip them with the necessary tools to ensure their success in such situations.

Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the significance of decision-making in hostage rescue operations. They will learn to swiftly move to known and unknown crisis sites and effectively resolve problems within the room by establishing points of domination with 2-4 officers. Furthermore, they will be challenged to maintain a high level of marksmanship, understand the roles and responsibilities of each individual in the room, and demonstrate their ability to apply their knowledge to guide other responders.

The Instructors at Grey Man Society come from a high-tempo, full-time SWAT element in a largely populated region. These instructors have vast knowledge and experience throughout their time with the team. The skills and principles taught have been tested and proven.

Larry Nguyen, co-founder of Grey Man Society, has been employed by the Harris County Sheriff's Office for over 12 years. During his career, he has served on patrol before being selected to join a part-time SWAT element, and is now assigned to a full-time SWAT team, where he has been for the past 9+ years.

Within the team, he is assigned as an assaulter, explosive/ballistic/mechanical breacher, sniper, high-angle team-ropes master, fast-roping master, NVG instructor, and firearms instructor.

Each of the Grey Man Society cadre has equivalent credentials with additional specialties.

Location: 3301 Namur St., Irving, TX. It is part of the University of Dallas campus, but is on an unused portion of the school grounds. Students MUST use the 3301 Namur Street address and not “University of Dallas.”
