Student will have to travel to several differents sites everyday in order to provide real world structures and a variety of doors for training purposes (vacant apartments and office buildings in and around the City of Houston)

TTPOA along with Royal Arms Internantional, and Houston Police Department SWAT Team is hosting a 3 day Shotgun Breaching Instructor Course.
This course will give an in-depth explanation of the different types of shotguns used, the different types of shotgun ammunition, frangible and shot results with slides and the correct chokes to used.
The concept is a method of quick tactical entry with a minimum of time required to enter an unknown area without the preparation of explosive charges, battering rams or time consuming hydraulics. Shotgun door breaching requires only a single officer to initiate the breaching of an entry or interior door using a breaching shotgun - while maintaining the safety of the breacher and the occupants on the other side of the door being breached. Shotgun breaching without explosive charges is one of the most effective and safe methods of entry.
The KEY TO SUCCESS IS KNOWLEDGE! Having your team scouts and breacher totally familiarize themselves with all the different types of door locking mechanism, types of hinges, door construction materials and PRACTICE and MORE PRACTICE.
Over 3 days, students are given the foundational information needed to become breaching instructors in shotgun breaching. Upon completion of this course, students will have an understanding of how to properly breach doors safely.
****Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training.****
COURSE OUTLINE
- Understand door construction, swing, and common fortifications
- Read the door and plan a successful breach
- Demonstrate proper breaching shotgun carry, use and capabilities
In order to receive a certificate of completion, students will be required to participate in 24 hours of practical exercises utilizing breaching shotgun. Students will be required to demonstrate the safe and proper application of the breaching shotgun.

- Breaching Shotgun, slings and a retention device to stow the shotgun
- Tactical ballistic vest
- Gun Belt (your gun belt you run with on operations)
- Rifle
- Tactical uniform
- Helmet
- Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK)

- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
We encourage all Students bring their own equipment so we can assess your equipment and advise. We assess and recommend shotguns and equipment for proper configuration.
AMMO:
Students will be required to purchase breaching ammo for this course. Once registered the students will receive a detailed list of equipment needed along with a TTPOA/Royal Arms discount code to purchase ammo directly from Royal Arms.
