The Defense Technology Academy Pistol Mounted Optic Instructor Course focuses on developing Instructor skills necessary for transitioning personnel from traditional iron sights to the pistol mounted electronic optics - Red Dot Sights.
Through discussions and practical range drills, students attending will be exposed to the latest "Red Dot" training techniques. This course emphasizes the following topics:
*Proper draw and presentation to allow rapid sight acquisition
*Use of traditional iron sights
*Comparrison and contrast of available "duty rated" pistol optics
*Optic mounting considerations
*Optic transition training considerations
Eye and ear protection
Department issued or approved pistol with a mounted electronic optic
Holster compatible to the pistol/optic
Minimum 3 pistol magazines with pouches
Appropriate clothing for live-fire range training and weather
Aproximately 1,000 rounds of pistol ammunition
