The Advanced Surveillance Course is a five-day, live, scenario-driven training program designed to challenge experienced law enforcement personnel in the planning, execution, and management of complex surveillance operations.
Students will operate in realistic, evolving scenarios that require them to adapt to changing conditions, make sound operational decisions, communicate effectively, and maintain surveillance objectives while managing multiple variables. Training will encompass mobile, static, foot, and multi-mode surveillance operations, with scenarios increasing in complexity throughout the course.
The course also introduces and reinforces technical surveillance and counter-surveillance concepts, emphasizing the recognition of surveillance indicators, operational security, and the integration of available technical resources into surveillance operations.
This course is heavily scenario-driven and practical in nature. Classroom instruction will establish the foundational concepts, terminology, planning considerations, and operational principles necessary to successfully complete the practical exercises. The majority of training will focus on live scenarios designed to replicate the complexity and uncertainty encountered during real-world investigations.
Students will be required to apply their knowledge under realistic conditions while adapting to changing circumstances, competing priorities, and unexpected developments. Instructor-led after-action reviews will be conducted throughout the course to identify strengths, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Course Schedule: Day 1 will begin at 0800 hrs at Love Field Law Enforcement Building (7850 Aviation Place Dallas, TX 75235). Days 2-5 will be at various locations across the metroplex. Locations and times will be given the day prior.
