This course is for hostage (crisis) negotiators who have competed a basic, 40-hour hostage
negotiation certification course. This advanced course will review the basics covered in the
certification course and then build on them by reviewing the topics of influence, persuasion,
negotiating with different personalities, and negotiating with different psychiatric conditions.


Upon completion of this course, attendees should:

  • Know the principles of influence and persuasion and be able to apply them in a
    negotiations setting.
  • Understand different personality types and be able to adjust negotiation styles based on
  • Know the different psychiatric conditions negotiators often interact with and apply the
    different negotiation strategies for each psychiatric condition
