Master the art of covert operations with Tactical Surveillance: Hiding in Plain Sight — a course that trains officers to observe, track, and gather intelligence without being detected. This class will have a classroom portion but a majority of it will be practical applications. This class will rely heavily on surveillance utilizing vehicles in the Greater Houston area. This course will test Officers ability to conduct surveillance with major variables, suspect actions, Officer assets, traffic etc. All Officers involved in the training of this course will make a mandatory roll call the first day of class to go over the objectives, learning points and safety precautions that this course will entail. More detail will be provided in person once you attend this course. Day 1 will be at the Spring Branch ISD school listed above, it will be in the ALERRT classroom inside that facility.

Student Gear Requirements:

• Your vehicle (what you work in)
• Wrap around eye protection and ear protection (if applicable for tactical portions)
• Binoculars
• Cell phone and charger
• Laptop (if available)
• Radio with extra batteries or car charger
• Medical bag / IFAK
• Rifle and tactical gear (pistol, vest, duty belt, helmet etc)
• Weather-appropriate gear
• No live ammunition (bring sims if possible)
• Plain clothes (if possible)

What Else to Bring

• Water bottle or hydration system
• Breakfast, snacks, and lunch (no meals provided during the day)
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Notebook and pen for field notes
• Personal medications
• Backup batteries or chargers (for radios, phones, laptops)
• Hat and sunglasses (critical for outdoor and mobile surveillance)
• Weather-appropriate outerwear
• Plainclothes or low-profile clothing (if instructed for covert exercises)
