Joined the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) in April 2000. During his first 6½ years, he served in Patrol, where he was a Patrol Rifleman, Field Training Officer (FTO), and a member of the Dignitary Protection Detail.

From 2006 to 2022, he served with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, where he was responsible for preparing raid plans for warrants and developing gas deployment plans for critical incidents. As a member of the SWAT training cadre, he helped train team members in firearms, hostage rescue, less-lethal tactics, and chemical agent deployment.

A 2021 graduate of the FBI Hazardous Devices School, he has been assigned to the SAPD Bomb Squad since 2023.
