The Waco Police Department SWAT team will host a 6-day, 60-hour Basic SWAT School September 21-26, 2025. Class will begin at 1400 hours on Sunday, 09/21/25 at the McLennan Community College Emergency Services Education Center (7601 Steinbeck Bend Dr. Waco, Texas 76708).  Please arrive in PT gear or bring it with you to change into.

·       Vehicle-Related Tactics

·       Sniper Operations

·       Mission Planning

·       Crisis Negotiations

·       Less-Lethal Munitions

·       Chemical Agents

This class will require physical exertion.

Prerequisites:

Students must be certified peace officers or active military personnel, in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide their agency ID on the first day of class.

There will be a pass/fail physical assessment on Sunday, Spetember 21st at 1400. Students should show up for class in PT gear or have it with you.

Students failing the physical assessment will not be allowed to stay in the class

The Cooper Fitness Single Cut Point will be used and the standards include:

1.5 mile run within 16:28

300 meter run within 1:11

25 pushups within one minute

29 situps within one minute

Required Equipment: 

PT clothing/running shoes

BDU or other similar tactical uniform

Duty/tactical belt

Helmet

Body armor used during SWAT operations 

Light body armor worn during patrol operations

Duty handgun (400rds of live ammunition, 150rds of simunition) 

Duty rifle (400rds of live ammunition, 150rds of simunition)

Ear and eye protection

Gloves

Your own simunition weapons or conversion kits if preferred, but some can be provided

Protective gear for simunition training

Gas mask

Inclement weather gear

Any protective gear you choose such as knee or elbow pads, gloves, etc.

Note taking material

Plenty of water and snacks
