60-Hour Basic S.W.A.T. Course
When: Sunday August 25, 2024, 0730hrs.
Where: Harlandale Memorial Stadium 4002 Roosevelt Ave. San Antonio, Texas
Course Details: TAP-UP 540 will be hosting a 60-hour TCOLE credit Basic SWAT Course August 25-30, 2024 (Sunday-Friday) in San Antonio Texas. The course begins at 0730 Sunday August 25, 2024.
The course begins at the Harlandale Memorial Stadium located at 4002 Roosevelt Ave. San Antonio, Texas 78214.
Students should show up for class in PT gear. Bring your BDU’s to change after you complete the PT assessment and relocate to 9810 Southton Rd. San Antonio, Texas for the remainder of the day. You will be required to provide transportation for you and your gear to different training venues in and around the San Antonio area.
This course will be taught by a cadre from SWAT Officers with over 45 combined years of experience.
The topics covered will be:
1. Physical Performance and Wellness
2. History of SWAT
3. SWAT Liability
4. Team organization and structure
5. SWAT Equipment
6. Room Clearing movement techniques
7. Tactics used to resolve a Barricaded gunman situation
8. Tactics used to resolve a Hostage Rescue
9. Vehicle Assaults
10. Intelligence and Raid planning for Warrant Service
11. Chemical agents, Diversionary Device, and less lethal munitions familiarization.
12. Firearms
13. Intro to Manual Breaching
This course will be hands-on and will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercises at various venues in and around the San Antonio area.
Prerequisites: Students must be a certified peace officer or active-duty military personnel in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide an agency ID on the first day of class.
There will be a pass/fail physical assessment the morning of the first day. The PT assessment will be based on the Cooper “Single Cut Point'' standard 1.5-mile run (under 16:28) 300-meter run (under 1:11) 25 push-ups within one minute, 29 sit ups within one minute.
Students who fail the PT assessment WILL NOT be allowed to remain in the course and WILL NOT be refunded their tuition.
Required Equipment:
All normal tactical equipment including, BDU or other similar tactical uniform, tactical boots, PT clothing and running shoes, long sleeve shirt, gloves, helmet, tactical vest/body armor, gas mask, eye and hearing protections, pistol with 3 magazines, rifle with 3 magazines, pen and paper for note taking.
Bring a laptop - a zip-drive will be handed out on Day 1.
Ammo:
Pistol 400 rounds / Rifle 400 rounds.
Please bring simunitions equipment that you may have access to including safety gear, pistols and or rifles and 100 rounds of simmunition ammo for rifle and pistol. Sims equipment and ammo are available for purchase. Contact Chris Rangel for more information.
