TTPOA in partnership with the El Paso Police Department's SOG/Dignitary Protection Team is hosting a 40 hour Dignitary Protection Course.  This 5 day/40 hour training course is designed to provide law enforcement officers with the foundational knowledge and skills required to conduct protective detail operations for identified individuals.  These individuals include but are not limited to public officials, witnesses, celebrities, or any particular individual facing credible threats.  

This course combines classroom instruction with practical training to cover the core principles of dignitary protection.  Topics include conducting threat assessments, advance planning, team formations, motorcade operations, vehicle ambush response, and other protective detail tactics. 

Day 5 of the course is a culmination of all lessons studied and practiced and involves conducting a full-scale protective operation involving role players and VIPs in and around various venues in the El Paso area.

Threat identfication

Weapons handling and range drills

• 1 - 6 person formations
• Shooting within team formations
• Vehicle ambush
• Advance work
• Operational planning
• Vehicle mounts and dismounts
• Motorcade operations

Equipment list:

• Handgun with plainclothes concealable holster
• 3 pistol magazines
• 500 rounds of practice ammunition
• Ear and eye protection
• Comfortable clothes (BDU or durable civilian attire for range drills and movements)
• PT gear (shorts, t shirt, running shoes)
• Unmarked vehicle (if feasible or available)  * not required
• Note taking material
• Hydration, snacks, sunscreen/hat, sunglasses
• Business casual attire with a sport coat (for final training exercise)
