The course requires a 2-student minimum from each agency (4 preferred), and they are required to bring their own Armored Vehicle.
The course prepares designated personnel to safely inspect, maneuver, position, and employ an armored rescue vehicle during tactical operations. Instruction emphasizes deliberate vehicle control, communication, use of the vehicle as mobile ballistic protection, protected approaches and rescues, safe dismount and withdrawal planning, live-fire employment from and around the armored platform, and the limits of controlled push, pull, and stabilization operations.
The course also includes operation of a Terradyne or Lenco BearCat powered boom and breaching-ram system. Students will inspect the boom and attachments, coordinate driver and boom-operator movement, position the vehicle for an instructor-approved mechanical breach, and support a simulated, agency-authorized chemical-agent deployment using inert training devices.
STUDENT PREREQUISITES
Current law enforcement officer, authorized tactical support member, or other student approved by the training provider.
Valid driver license for any student who will operate the vehicle.
The course includes a law-enforcement live-fire block using the student’s duty handgun and patrol rifle. Each student must arrive with serviceable, agency-approved weapons and the following minimum ammunition allotment:
50 rds Factory-loaded duty or training handgun ammunition in the correct caliber
50 rds Factory-loaded duty or training rifle ammunition in the correct caliber
Unless specifically approved by the range authority, ammunition may not include tracer, incendiary, armor-piercing, steel-core, explosive, or other restricted projectiles. The host agency may require additional ammunition for remediation or repeated drills and should notify students before the course date.
