The TTPOA is proud to announce that the El Paso Police Department SWAT team will be hosting a 5 day (50 hour) Basic Precision Marksman course in El Paso, TX. The primary instructor will be EPPD SWAT sniper/observer Roger Flores who has been with the El Paso SWAT team for 19 years and has attended 7 SWAT Sniper/Observer courses across the U.S. during his tenure, several of those being at an advanced level of training. |
Legal issues, fundamental of marksmanship, bullet trajectory, terminal ballistics, environmental factors, proper windage/slope, shot placement, use of scopes/optics (night and day), equipment selection, record keeping, ranging, camouflaging/urban hides, and sniper selection. Range instruction and drills will include; range estimation, cold-bore shots, fixed and moving target engagements at various distances up to 500 yards, shooting through glass/barriers, stress shooting, low light shooting, coordinated fire, patience drills, shooting while wearing chemical agent masks, and record keeping. |
Students must be certified peace officers, federal agents, or active military personnel in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide a valid agency credentials with photograph on the first day of class. Course will entail some physical activity so students should be in above-average physical condition. |
All normal tactical clothing/call-out gear, a scoped rifle (bolt-action or semi-automatic) capable of shooting a one inch or better group at 100 yards, rifle sling, shooting mat, backpack, log book/notebook, cleaning kit, 500 rounds of match grade ammuntion. Please be prepared for all-weather training. Sunscreen and hydration is highly recommended. Spotting scopes, range finders, and night optic devices are optional. |
The fee for the course is $400 for TTPOA members and $450 for non-members. Registration must be completed on-line at http://www.ttpoa.org (training calendar). Payment should be made to the TTPOA.
