Course Details:
 

The TTPOA announces that we will conduct a six-day (60-hour) BASIC SWAT SCHOOL in Pasadena, Texas. This school will be taught by the SWAT/TTPOA Instructors from SWAT Teams in the Houston area.

This class will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercises at various venue sites in the Pasadena Police Department area.

 
Course Topics:
This class will focus on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including: SWAT history, liability issues, physical fitness/wellness, SWAT equipment/weapons selection, intelligence gathering, rapid deployment/rapid rescue, barricaded persons, hazardous warrants, emotionally disturbed persons, vehicle and bus assaults, less-than-lethal applications, noise-flash diversionary devices, and chemical agents.
 
Prerequisites
Students must be certified peace officers or active military personnel, in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide agency ID on the first day of class. There will be a pass/fail physical assessment the morning of the first day of class. Students should show up for class in PT gear. Students failing the physical assessment will not be allowed to stay in the class. The PT test is the Cooper "Single Cut-Point" standard. 1.5 mile run in 16:28, 300 meter run in 1:11, 25 push-ups in 1 Minute, 29 sit-ups in 1 minute.
 
Required Equipment
 

All normal tactical equipment including, BDU or other similar tactical uniform, PT clothing, body armor, load-bearing vest or web-gear, eye and ear protection, handgun and/or shoulder fired weapon (You will need 400 rounds of handgun ammunition and 400 rounds Long Gun Ammunition.) Please bring any Simunitions equipment that you have, ammunition will be provided. This course will be instructed at various sites in and around the Pasadena / Houston area.  You must be able to provide transportation for yourself and your equipment to these locations (to be named later).

The fee for the course is $300 for TTPOA members and $350 for non-members. All fees are due by Feb. 12, 2010. There will be no refunds for cancellations after that date. Class size is limited. Make checks payable to the TTPOA. Mail registration forms and checks to - Pasadena Police Department 4801 Spencer Highway Pasadena, Texas 77505 Attn: Lt. John Dombrowa.  Class will start at 1300 on Feb. 21, 2010 at the Pasadena PD Range located at 6600 Genoa Red Bluff.  We will meet there briefly before moving off site to conduct the physical assessment. Students need to have PT gear available for the first day of class.  The Host Hotel is the Best Western, 1401 Center Street, Deer Park, TX, 77536.  281-476-1900.  Government rate is $79.99 per night.
